Travel Tips for One and All! In junior high, I had a passionate Social Studies teacher who believed that there is a lot more to history than what was written in our textbooks. As a part of our grade, we had to "get-away" and start seeing history in our area! She felt junior high students should have new and challenging experiences to help them learn and grow. I agree! In her words, "The text book is like the main course to a meal, and you are gathering dessert!" With Mrs. G`s permission, I am passing along this wonderful information. Although, I am not assigning these "get-aways" as a grade, my hope is some of these ideas can inspire your family to visit the history near-by. I will add to the list, so check back!
Most of all, I hope that you and your student can enjoy learning together!Mrs. G`s Original Get-away Ideas 1. Wheaton History Center - sadly, this center seems to have closed 2. Lombard Historical Society - link
