A Cup of Happiness
A Cup of Happiness Coffee started in the 2018-2019 school year and continues to grow! This program is graciously sponsored by Celebrate Differences, a non-profit, all-inclusive disability awareness center founded by Rebecca Christensen.
In the 2019-2020 school year, we were pleased to announce that Oswego East High School opened A Cup of Happiness shop. A Cup of Happiness is an amazing opportunity to provide students with a real world work based learning experience right in our school.
We have trained peer mentors to work alongside our students in the STARS and Life Skills programs. Students prepare and deliver coffee, tea, cider, and hot chocolate to our staff on Monday and Friday mornings during the first period. Students who are not directly working can also earn skills through behind-the-scenes work tasks and vocational lessons developed from operating the coffee shop.
We are thankful to share this opportunity and gained happiness through serving what our teachers like best, coffee!
