Thank you to everyone who saved plastic lids and caps for our bench project this year.  The Eco Club sorted, cleaned and weighed over 200 pounds of caps, which was enough to purchase four 2’ benches to be placed around the school.  An EXTRA SPECIAL thank you to our Girl Scout Troop #644 for donating money to pay for two of the benches.

If you still have caps and lids, you can place them in your regular recycling bin, OR continue to save them and start your own project.  In 2020, Green Tree Plastics opened up the ABC Promise Partnership to include individuals and adult groups.  You and your friends and family,  scout group, or workplace can collect the plastic to recycle into benches or picnic tables for your own home, office, or community park, etc.  At this time, there is no plan for the Eco Club to participate in the bench project next year, so there is no need to continue saving your caps and lids for Homestead.

As for our fundraising project, we WILL continue to collect sneakers, so keep that in mind as you purchase new sneakers for summer or the new school year.
