Daily Announcements - 4/19/2022

Good Morning Mavericks! Today is Tuesday, April 19th, 2022

MAVS! Did you know that April is Autism Awareness month? This week, Student Council would like to bring your attention to this important cause. Each day, we will share a fact or two about autism during the morning announcements. Today, we would like to begin by defining what autism is. “Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 44 children in the United States today” (“What is Autism?” Autism Speaks). Mavericks, continue to listen to the announcements each day to learn more about autism.

Hey Mavs: OHS Mu Alpha Theta will be hosting the district Junior High math competition this year on Tuesday April 26.  Students will form teams of 4 and compete against other teams and school in a team and individual competition.  You can get a signup form from your math teacher or the bulletin. Forms are due by Friday, April 22nd.

Make it a great day Mavericks!
