Good Morning Mavericks! Today is Wednesday, September 29th, 2021
Mavericks: This week is Start with Hello week at Murphy Junior High! The purpose of this week is to promote inclusivity for all students within the school environment, in hopes of combating school violence. As part of this week, Student Services is sponsoring a homeroom door decorating challenge! Decorating must be complete by this Friday, October 1st, which is when judging will occur. The only guideline is that your design must include any Start with Hello week's messages of promoting school inclusivity and connections within our school! The winning homeroom - students and their homeroom teacher- will receive a "sweet treat" courtesy of Student Services!
Hey 6th period lunch students: Feeling artistic? Mrs. Miller is hosting a drawing themed meet and eat this Friday October 1st during 6th period lunch. Grab your lunch and join us as we follow along with a Youtube drawing artist. Sign up during homeroom!
Attention Murphy students: Wrestling is back at Murphy this fall. Any 6-8th grader who is interested in wrestling this Fall come to room D 203 during student support time this Friday for a brief informational meeting about how to join the wrestling team.
Attention 7th grade boys interested in trying out for basketball. Please meet Mr. Orr, after the pledge, outside room E119 to pick up information regarding tryouts.
Attention students: Murphy spirit wear is now on sale! There are several options available including t-shirts and hoodies. A link for the website to order is in the Bulletin. Orders are due Oct 8th.
Mavericks: Did you know it only takes $10 to feed someone in our community for a week? On Monday, October 4th, the annual district food drive will begin! Bring your donations of non-perishable goods or a monetary donation to your homeroom for a variety of incentives. A donation of $1 is good for 8 items donated. For the first item donated, you will receive a bullseye. Donate your first 10 items and get a jump the lunch line pass. Get your entire homeroom involved and if your class has the most items per person, your class will earn a pizza party. All donations must be received by October 13th! Jump in and help support our District 308 community.
IN SPORTS: Last night the 8th grade girls’ volleyball team had a very exciting match against Thompson. The A team won in their 3rd set after a tough fight, and the B team almost had it but lost 15-13 in the 3rd set. Great job Mavericks!
Congrats to the boys soccer team for a monstrous win. Last night they finally started their game at 5 pm and came away with an 8-0 win. The game should have been 60 min, but it was cut to less than 45 min. Great job boys. Keep up the great work when you travel to Bednarik on Thursday!
