Good Morning Mavericks! Today is Friday, January 24th, 2020

Attention 8th grade Washington D.C. travelers:  During our trip we have the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.  This is a very special event and a great way to pay tribute to those who make sacrifices so we may live free.  If you would like to be the person who represents our school district in this memorable event, please submit an essay explaining why. 

Ms. Miller has details and a flyer.  Your writing skill is not necessary; your desire to honor our fallen heroes is all it takes.  Essays must be submitted by February 14.  Please see Ms. Cindy Miller with any questions.  

Murphy Mavericks: We are looking to celebrate your hard work here at Murphy Junior High! Starting Monday, January 27th, you will have the chance to earn a Positive Office Referral! Staff members are looking for students who have done the following: Worked through a problem/showed grit, managed emotions during a difficult time, committed to excellence, set a goal and achieved it, reached out for help when needed.

Students who receive a positive referral will have their referral scanned and sent home for their family to see and celebrate, as well! Be listening to the announcements on Fridays, as you may be one to hear your name called to come down to student services to receive your positive referral!

Hey Mav’s: The Maverick Sewing Club will start Tuesday, February 18. Get your permission slip from Ms. Calvillo in E103 to join the fun! Space is limited. 

 Hey Murphy - For the Great Kindness Challenge, let's show our participation by dressing up each day of the week! Monday - We have the power to be KIND - Wear your favorite superhero gear.

Tuesday - Let’s get comfy with Kindness - Wear your favorite pj’s. Wednesday - Kindness never gets OLD - Dress like an “OLD” person. Thursday - Crazy for Kindness - Wear your crazy socks, sport some crazy hair, mis-match your clothes! Friday - Share the Spirit of Kindness - Rock your favorite Maverick gear! Look out for posters throughout the building with the days listed, as well!
