Daily Announcements - 9/11/19

ood Morning Mavericks! Today is Wednesday, September 11th, 2019

Are you interested in learning a new instrument? What about ukulele? Join Murphy's Ukulele Club and learn new styles of music and a new instrument. We'll be working on ukulele basics and more. You'll be a pro in no time! No instrument or experience is needed to participate. Just come to the first club meeting on Thursday, September 19 from 3:15 - 4:10 in the band room! Contact Ms. Karvelius if you have questions.

Hey Mavs!  Did you miss the drama announcement party last week but still want more information about the play and musical?  Stop by the music department and grab an informational handout!  If you have any other questions, talk to Mrs. Tysiak or Mrs. Clausen!

Student Ambassadors: There will be a meeting on Thursday, September 12th in the ZAP room (across from the Multi-Purpose Room) from 7:50 - 8:15 am. Please come to the ZAP room as soon as you arrive to school from the bus or parent drop-off. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you again!

Today is September 11th. For the students roaming the halls of Murphy Junior High, you do not know the world before this fateful day. But for the adults here today, it is a day that is etched in our minds. I encourage students to ask your teachers to share their memories of September 11, 2001.  Most will be able to tell you very specific and vivid details of that day and the following days. What we know today is that 19 terrorists associated with Al Queda were responsible for hijacking 4 commercial airplanes. Two were flown into the World Trade Center in New York, one was crashed into the Pentagon near Washington DC and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. All told, nearly 3000 people lost their lives in the attacks and aftermath.

Now, we will have our moment of silence to remember all those affected by the attack on America that took place on September 11, 2001.

Make it a great day Mavericks!
