Good Morning Mavericks! Today is Wednesday, February 27th, 2019

Attention Mavericks!  The Annual District Math competition is on Thursday March 7th.  Join other 6th, 7th and 8th graders from all 5 junior highs in both a team and individual math competition.  Let’s keep our Trophy and take down Bednarcik again!  See your math teacher for more information and be sure to turn in your sign up form by March 1st.

Reminder to students: The author visit is tomorrow.  Book money for Stolen Girl and/or Making Bombs for Hitler is due today to Mrs. Campasano. Students who purchase books are invited to a meet and greet with the author after the presentation to get their books.

Hey Mavs!  Saturday March 2nd would be Doctor Seuss’ 115th birthday.  In honor of our upcoming musical, “Seussical,” and of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the Murphy Drama Department wanted to share some interesting facts about his life throughout the rest of the week.  Did you know that Dr Seuss kept a closet full of wacky hats and whenever he was stumped when writing one of his books, he would put on one of his wacky hats to provide inspiration!  Honor Doctor Seuss’ 115th birthday by coming out to see the Murphy Drama Department’s production of Seussical the Music on Thursday March 14 or Friday March 15. The show begins at 7PM in the Murphy Cafeteria.  Tickets cost $5 and doors will open at 6:30PM.  There will be a bakesale where all items cost $1.  We hope to see you there!

Attention Maverick’s!   Do you want to learn to code, build things, perform experiments and other fun STEM activities?  Join us for Murphy’s STEM Club!   This spring, the STEM Club will be doing a different activity each week. STEM Club will meet on Tuesdays beginning Tuesday, March 5th in room F228 from 3:15-4:15 pm.  See Mrs. Ramsbottom for details or pick up a flyer in Student Services.

Attention Student Council Members: There will be an optional, but necessary meeting after school this Thursday in Miss Phillips's classroom. We will create and hang posters for our 3rd Quarter Spirit Week. Please meet in Miss Phillips's classroom, D209 until 4 pm THIS THURSDAY. See you then!

Last night, the 7th grade Lady Mavericks hosted a tough Traughber team.  After falling behind early in the first game, the Mavericks were able to build a 5 point lead to finish the half.  During the 3rd quarter, Traughber made some quick 3 pointers to cut the lead to 1.  The 4th quarter was a battle with the Mavericks holding on for the 18 to 16 victory.  Anna and Anya each scored 5 points, while Lana added 4. The second game was also a battle with each team trading the lead in the final minutes.  The Mavericks held off Traughber's last second attempt to score to come away with the 13 to 11 victory.  Shyell and Emma Klosterman each scored 4 points.

Make it a great day Mavericks!
