Any artists in the house? Any student that would like to create some posters to welcome author, Jordan Sonnenblick, author of Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, for his presentations on December 5th please see Mrs. Campasano or Mrs. Walsh in the mornings during homeroom to get a pass to come to the LRC during lunch.
Who wants to eat lunch with a celebrity? If you would like to be entered in a drawing to eat lunch with Jordan Sonnenblick the day of his visit, see Mrs. Walsh in the mornings during homeroom. If you pre-ordered a book, then your name automatically will be put in the drawing.
How loud can you cheer? How much noise can you make? Come on out next Friday night and prove it! Get ready for an exciting evening of great basketball, raffle prizes, food and fun! Join your Maverick friends and family in cheering on our boys’ basketball teams against our 127th street rivals - the Heritage Grove Huskies. On Friday, December 7th $3 admission for everyone at the door. The 7th grade game starts at 5:30 and the 8th grade game is at 7:00. There will be raffle prizes awarded throughout the evening and a split the pot raffle awarded at halftime. All proceeds go to our Shop with a Cop charity. Come to Murphy on December 7th to cheer on our teams as we fight to keep the trophy at Murphy for another year!

Why not make your next Taco Tuesday dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Murphy next Tuesday, December 4th between 5 and 9pm at Chipotle on 12720 S. Rte. 59 Suite 100 in Plainfield! Tell them at the register you are with Murphy and 33% of the proceeds of your dinner will be donated! You simply show up enjoy a dinner of deliciousness with friends and family and you raise money for your school! Hope to see you there!
Want a change of scenery from the cafeteria? Or have you ever wanted to have lunch with your teacher and decorate cookies, play games, or talk about fun topics - besides academics of course - topics like Harry Potter, sports, or Shakespeare? We have an exciting new monthly opportunity for staff and students to have lunch together and have these fun conversations. Maverick Meet & Eats will have its first sessions 4th period lunch will be on Thursday the 6th and we will be designing snowflakes, 5th period lunch on December 5th, when the topic will be Harry Potter, and on December 7th - 6th period the activity will be cookie decorating and 7th period when the activity will be Wii games.
The 7th grade basketball team ended the regular season by picking up a pair of wins against a tough Thompson team. The first game was a tough battle from the start, Neither team was able to build a good lead. In the final minutes, good free throw shooting allowed the Mavericks to hold on for the 28 to 27 victory. Malachi led the scoring with 12 points. Jayden C. added 5 and Will was good for 4. In the second game, the Mavericks jumped out to a 7 point lead. Thompson battled back to grab a 2 point lead before halftime. The battle continued into the second half with the game coming down to last second effort by Thompson to tie the game. The Mavericks held on for the 21 to 18 victory. Allen led the scoring with 9 points, while Ivan and Jayden R. were good for 4 points.
Last night the 8th grade boys took on Thompson. We jumped out to an early lead and held on to the lead until 4th quarter. Thompson hit a couple of big 3's and took the lead and ended up winning by 5. Leading scorers were Will with 18, Christian had 13 and Caden had 6. The second game was another battle with the score going back and forth. In the 4th we hit a couple of big shots that put us ahead and we won by 3. Leading scorers were Ryan with 9, Jalen, Ernest and Matt all put up 7.
