Good Morning Mavericks! Today is Friday, October 26th, 2018

Murphy is excited to host the upcoming Fall Scholastic Book Fair. An amazing selection of books is headed this way! The fair will take place in Murphy’s LRC on Monday, October 29 through Thursday, November 1st from 8:10am to 3:00pm during the school day and during parent/teacher conferences Thursday 4 to 8pm. If you can’t make the book fair, you can also help support our school by shopping online. All orders ship free to Murphy. The online fair is available this Wednesday, October 24th through Wednesday, November 7th.

Attention STEM Club: This Saturday is STEMfest at NIU!   We will meet at the main entrance to the convocation center at 1 pm and tour together until 3 pm.  We hope to see you there. Please see Mrs. Ramsbottom with any questions.

The LRC Great Pumpkin Contest is on! You have one more weekend to create your decorated pumpkin. Your chances of winning are greater than winning the lottery!  Entries will be accepted until Monday, October, 29th. Winners will receive a gift certificate to the Scholastic Fall Book Fair. Hey Mav’s: Yesterday at Plank Jr High the Murphy wrestlers had a competitive match against the Pirates. In exhibition Nick Zbylut won by pin. At Varsity Ethan Gustafson won by major decision. Dillon Crawford and Mehki Fikremariam won by pin. Good Job boys!

Yesterday the 7th grade basketball team picked up two wins against Plank.  In the first game, the Mavericks jumped out early.  Plank fought back to close the gap, but Mavericks never gave up the lead in their 34 to 26 victory.  Malachi led the scoring with 16 points, while Will added 10 and Armon finished with 6. The second game was a close battle down to the final seconds.  The Mavericks held on for the 19 to 17 victory.  Tim, Deondre, Jayden R. and Dwayne each scored 4 points.

The 8th grade boys played Plank at home.  It was a great game we battled hard and it was a back and forth the whole game until the end where we made some turnovers and let Plank take the lead by 8 and then we ended up losing by 8.  Leading scorers where Reif with 17, Caden and Josh both had 6 and Micheal Poblowski had 5. In the second game it was all Murphy, we jumped up to an 8 point lead and held on to the lead the entire game.  Leading scorers were Will with 13, Matt and Robert both had 8 and Ryan and Micheal had 4.  Great job!

Today is Locker Clean out! 2nd Floor D pod after the announcements, students should use the large trash cans in the pod for any trash and take a few minutes to organize their lockers.
