Three district bands selected for U of I Superstate Festival

Each May, the University of Illinois hosts their annual Superstate Festival, an honor band festival where the best bands in the state are selected based upon sending in an audition recording. These bands receive comments from some of the most well-regarded music minds in the country, as well as to play a concert in the Krannert Center, one of the most acoustically perfect concert halls in the United States. This year, three District 308 bands were selected for this prestigious festival, and though the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of the event, this does not lessen the achievement of being selected. Congratulations to the Traughber Junior High 8th Grade Band (directed by Rachel Maxwell and Josh Johnson), the Oswego High School Wind Symphony (directed by Stephanie San Roman and Kevin Schoenbach), and for the first time in their school history, the Oswego East High School Wind Symphony (directed by Kelly Cooper and Stevan Rexroat). Our district's music program really shined with this terrific showing of talent, and in a time where it doesn't seem much is going right, let's take a moment to recognize these wonderful and dedicated students!!!
