Manufacturing Teacher Alex Rodriguez earns distinguished credential from AWS

Oswego High School’s Metalworking and Manufacturing instructor, Alex Rodriguez, recently earned the distinguished Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credential from the American Welding Society (AWS). This nationally recognized credential from AWS demonstrates the high level of welding industry knowledge and skills held by Rodriguez.
Rodrigeuz has taught for 19 years in SD308. This is his 6th year as the Metalworking and Manufacturing instructor at OHS. The Metalworking and Manufacturing program prepares students for career and college in the areas of welding, sheet metal fabrication, and machining. These careers are in-demand in the SD308 region. Students in the Metalworking and Manufacturing program also have the opportunity to complete internship and cooperative education work-based learning experiences and earn early college credit in Welding and Machine Tool Technology from Waubonsee Community College.
Rodriguez completed a week-long AWS CWE preparatory course hosted by Valley Education for Employment System (VALEES) and Indian Valley Vocational Center (IVVC) in July for 10 welding educators in the state of Illinois.
The AWS is the premier international organization for the study and advancement of the science, technology and application of welding. AWS certification verifies the high level of knowledge and skill of credential holders.
