Do I need a separate pair of shoes for PE?
Students can only participate in PE if they are wearing an athletic type shoe (tennis shoe, cross trainer, Converse, etc)
It is not required that students have a separate pair of shoes just for PE, but it is strongly suggested that students keep a pair of shoes in their lockers in the event that they are not wearing an athletic shoe for the day.-
What else do I need for PE
Students are expected to keep non-aerosol deodorant in their PE lockers for use both before and after class every day. As mentioned above, an extra pair of shoes, along with an extra pair of socks, should be kept in their locker in case a student would need them.
Students may also want to keep a small towel, washcloth, or body wipes in their PE locker if needed, as the school does not provide this for student use. Please do not keep anything glass in your PE locker such as perfume. Non-aerosol deodorants are also preferred because it helps reduce the chance of asthmaissues and allergic reactions that can be brought on by many sprays.
-
Where do I change for PE?
Locker rooms are available for students to use during PE class. A locker is provided for every student, along with a lock. If a student is shy about changing in front of their peers, there are shower stalls with curtains that a they can use for some privacy. Students should not change in the bathroom stalls.
-
Do I need a lock?
Students will be issued a lock by the PE staff. Students are NOT allowed to bring their own lock. If the student loses or breaks the lock issued to them, it is $5 to replace it.
Students are to lock the lock on a locker in the PE locker room, and leave it on that locker even if their PE locker is empty. At no time should the lock be taken home or to their regular hall lockers, as they are often lost when this happens.-
How much time do I get to change?
At the beginning of class, students are alloted approximately 4 minutes after the bell to change, use the restroom if needed, and find their attendance spot in the gym. This is in addition to the 4 minutes of passing period before the class starts, for a total of up to 8 minutes. At the end of class, students are given 4-5 minutes to change back into their regular clothes.
-
Do I have to take a shower after PE?
Showers are not required. If a student would like to take a shower, extra time will be provided to do so.
-
Will classes be divided by grade?
Students will be assigned a teacher, and all students in that class are in the same grade level. However, activities may be planned with another teacher`s class during the same class period that include students from other grade level.
-
What do I do if I lose or forget my PE uniform?
Students are encouraged to check the locker room, empty lockers around their locker and the PE lost and found first for their PE uniform. If they do not find it in the locker room, then they should tell their teacher.
If the uniform is not found, students are expected to bring in another t-shirt and pair of shorts from home for a few days to see if their uniform is found during that time. If the uniform has not been found, then the student will be expected to purchase a new uniform.
** Students can still participate in PE if they don't have their PE uniform as long as they have athletic shoes on. They will not earn their points for dressing that day, but can still earn their points for performance. ** In their overall grade, performance is worth 50% while dressing for class/classwork/responsibility is worth 35%.
