September 9, 2022 COVID Update
COVID-19 Administrative Leave
There have been changes to the district policy regarding COVID-19 related exclusion requirements since House Bill 1167 was first passed last school year. The bill does provide administrative leave when certain factors are met for staff of public schools, as outlined below. If you have used sick time for COVID-19, and meet all the requirements, please complete this form for review by HR to determine if your sick leave may be re-coded as administrative leave. Please note that exclusion from work must be required, not simply chosen, does require proof of exclusion on official letterhead from the school or school district, and only applies to COVID-19 exclusion, not other reasons for illness or absence. The district Safety Plan only calls for required absence when testing positive for COVID-19, not following close contact.
- Paid administrative leave for every employee of a public school district established under Article 10 or Article 34 of the School Code, public university, and public community college who meets the following criteria:
- fully vaccinated no later than May 10, 2022 (as defined by Illinois HB 1167)
- is required, or whose child is required, to be excluded from elementary or secondary school because of a positive COVID-19 test result or close contact with a person who had a confirmed case of COVID-19.
- has been required by the school or school district policy to be excluded from school district property due to COVID-19 symptoms.

COVID-19 Information
The testing schedule this week will begin on Tuesday with SHIELD Illinois. Please watch your email Monday afternoon for the schedule.
SHIELD Testing
SHIELD Illinois, the saliva-based COVID-19 testing, with results available through a secure portal the day following testing, will begin optional COVID-19 testing THIS TUESDAY. Testing will be optional and free to all district students and staff. Screening tests are offered weekly at all school locations which can be accessed by any unvaccinated student or staff member (an additional staff-only testing site will be included) . Vaccinated staff may also access testing if desired, following a potential exposure to COVID-19 or illness. If you already completed a consent form for SHIELD with the district, your information has been registered with SHIELD. If not, you can register on-site at the testing location just before you test. Students under the age of 18 do require a consent form be on file with the district the day prior to testing in order to participate.
Please view the SHIELD page on our website for more details, however please DO NOT complete the registration form on that page for yourself, it is for students only. You will register in person if you have not already done so.
