5.1 Public Comment

Two comments were made by district parents, which can be viewed on the video.

 

6.1 Board Member Comments

Members are looking forward to the Crosstown game approaching on Friday.

BOE members have been visiting schools to round through classrooms and touch base with staff and show support. 

 

6.2 Committee Meeting Reports

Teaching & Learning Committee Meeting: Presentation previewed regarding Special Education, which will be presented tonight. 

Information was shared with the committee regarding the several pathways students have to careers when not going a route towards college. 

 

6.3 Superintendent Report

  • Congratulations to the Oswego Boys Golf Team- winning their first ever Southwest Prairie Conference title and regional title. 

  • The 8th annual Food Drive is underway, it has been the single largest donation for the Kendall County Community Food Pantry each of the past 7 years, the drive serves as a learning opportunity on food insecurity and a friendly competition between schools. The winners at each level will be announced this Friday night at the Crosstown game at OHS. 

  • Several openings exist around the district-  encourage everyone to help spread the word on openings, even part-time opportunities. All open positions are listed online, visit www.sd308.org/jobs.

 

6.4 Student Ambassador Report

Advisors have met with the student advisory committee, and they are planning a student voice survey as a way to collect student thoughts on learning opportunities and ways of communicating. They plan to use the survey to explain the pathway that students have to communicate, and provide opportunity for student concerns to be expressed to the board.  

 

7.0 Consent Agenda

Consent agenda was approved, including minutes from the previous meeting and FOIA requests.

8.2 Special Education Annual Report

  • Students Served: 

    • 2,400 Students with Individual Education Programs (Early Childhood – Transition)

    • 650 Students with 504 Plans (Early Childhood – Grade 12)

An overview of services and staff resources was presented. The goal for Envision 308 Strategic Plan includes developing and strengthening the continuum of services for special education students. The indicators of success measured each of the next five years were presented.

9.1 Bills for Payment

Approved bills for payment. 

Motion to authorize the payment of bills in the amount of $5,151,767.92 as presented.

Motion passed 5-0.

 

9.2 Approval of Additional Recommended New Equity Advisory Committee Member

The Board of Education approved the recommended candidate to fill an additional vacancy on the Equity Board Advisory Committee.

Motion passed 5-0.

 

9.3 Approval of Board Member Travel Request

Board member travel request to attend the Triple I conference held annually in Chicago

Per Board Policy 2:125, all Board member requests for travel, meals and/or lodging must be approved by a roll call vote at an open meeting of the Board.

Four Board members will be attending the Triple I Conference in Chicago. The following expenses will be covered along with the per diem rate for meals: Conference registration fees, Lodging, Parking, Tolls, Mileage.

9.4 Approval of SD308 E-Learning Plan for Emergency Days

The motion was to approve the SD308 E-Learning Plan for Emergency Days as presented during the Public Hearing. Presentation on Updated Plan

9.5 Approval of MOU with the OESPA

MOU regarding Referral Incentive

Until February 1, 2022, a referral incentive of $250.00 will be offered to any OESPA

covered employee who refers a candidate for any vacant OESPA covered position that is

fully qualified for the vacant position at the time of application, is hired for the vacant

position, and remains employed in the vacant position for the duration of the probationary

period.
