B.I.O.N.I.C. (Believe It Or Not I Care) - A huge shout-out to the students and staff members of the B.I.O.N.I.C. club, which is a student-run peer leadership organization run out of Oswego High School, for recently being featured in ISBE’s Weekly Message of September 27, 2022! Click Here to see this club after completion of a TALK training regarding Social Media Safety as part of their work to identify and train student leaders to prevent bullying. 

Oswego High School Holiday Craft Fair - Saturday, November 5 (9-3:00pm). Over 160 top crafters; admission is $3.00 (children under 12 free); SD 308 staff get in FREE with ID! Click here to view the OHS Holiday Craft Fair Flyer.

 

Human Resources - BENEFITS

SD 308 Flu Clinic and Wellness Screening - The district is offering its annual Flu Vaccine Clinic and Wellness Screening Event this year beginning October 17. Flu Vaccines and Wellness Screenings are provided at No Cost to all employees with SD 308 medical insurance plan who present their SD 308 medical insurance card. Appointments are limited. ALL employees need to create a new account and register at Empower.Health to sign up (client code sd308EHS).

 

Medical Reimbursement Program - If you are enrolled in either of the district’s PPO/BCO or HCA/PPO medical plans and use the RUSH Medical Network you can get reimbursement for all of your medical expenses including co-pays and deductibles up to your out of pocket maximum.  ER services are excluded and you cannot use FSA / HSA as form of payment. Payroll

Payroll Questions? Please use the following Google Form to log any payroll questions/concerns you may have. Payroll staff will answer your questions in the order they were received. For immediate assistance, certified staff can email payroll-cert@sd308.org (Cari Lackey oversees with Kaitlyn Earwood providing secondary support); non-certified staff can email payroll-noncert@sd308.org (Paula Reidy oversees with Sarah McGee providing secondary support).

Health Services

Homebound Tutors Needed: For all licensed staff, including substitute teachers: SD 308 is seeking licensed teachers  to serve as homebound tutors!  Pay is $35 per hour and tutors have the flexibility to arrange time and location for tutoring that works for tutor and student. Please fill in this form if you are willing to be contacted when a position becomes available.

Thank you Physical Therapists! October is National Physical Therapy Month! Physical therapists are movement experts who improve the quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement.  PTs treat people of all ages and abilities to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In the school environment, physical therapists are a part of the educational team that work with children with disabilities to help them develop or improve mobility and access their school environment safely and independently. 

Student Information System

Tyler Technologies is not going to be supporting Tyler SIS moving forward. We are striving to select a system that best meets the needs of all users in the district and therefore are seeking feedback related to features you are looking for in a Student Information System. Please consider filling out one of the surveys below.  In the survey, you will be asked to rank different features from most important (lowest number) to least important (highest number), as well as give open ended feedback.

Memorial Fundraiser for Dr. Lindsay Allen

Fundraiser…..in memory of Lindsay Allen. Sunday, October 16 at 11:30am, Kickers Club, 1015 Harvey Rd., Oswego. Purchase a sweatshirt ($35) or donate cash at the event. Proceeds will be used to purchase a memorial book bench. Click here for flyer.

 

ISBE THOSE WHO EXCEL & TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

ISBE: 2023 Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Nominations -  The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has issued a call for nominations for the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. This program recognizes seven categories: classroom teachers, early career educators (teachers 1-4 years), administrators, student support personnel, educational service personnel, community volunteers, and teams.. These awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Illinois’ public and nonpublic preK-12 schools. This year, any person or organization may submit nominations for the awards through the ISBE website.

  • ISBE is currently accepting nominations through NOVEMBER 18. 

  • To nominate an individual, visit Submit a Nomination Application.

  • Once ISBE receives nominations, the nominee will receive an email from ISBE with notification that they have been nominated and who nominated them, along with a link on where to fill out the application.

  • Applications are due by December 2nd to be considered.

  • Application materials are evaluated by a selection committee composed of individuals who represent a variety of educational organizations.

HELP WANTED

OPEN INTERVIEWS: Our next rounds of open interviews will be held on 10/4 from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm.  Please spread the word. We are looking forward to hosting interviews focused on Teaching Assistants and Custodians.

Do you know someone who might be interested in learning to drive a school bus? Our district offers paid training and assistance with obtaining necessary licensure for driving a school bus! Bus drivers are offered overtime opportunities, paid time off, insurance, and more! Please share the application with others! Thanks for your help!
