ISBE Physical Restraint and Time Out

  • Remember- anytime a time out or physical restraint is used on ANY student, a reporting form MUST be completed, uploaded to Tyler, and sent to the parent/guardian.

Changes in the reporting timelines were also made. When a student is subject to isolated time out, time out, or physical restraint, the school district must:

    • Make a reasonable attempt to notify the student’s parent/guardian on the same day.

    • Send the record to the student’s parent/guardian within one business day (instead of 24 hours).

    • Complete data entry into Tyler as the information must be uploaded to the State within 48 hours

    • Submissions to ISBE via email are no longer required
