4.1 Public Comment

5.1 Board Member Comments
Dr. Marino acknowledged that it is National Principals Month- they’re working so hard this school year with staff shortages, we want to recognize their hard work- Thank you!
Mrs. Kroner- due to a job change for her husband, her family will be moving to Arizona (here and serving as a board member at least through the end of Dec.), information on the process for replacing the vacancy will be provided to the community soon.
5.2 Committee Meeting Reports
Equity Advisory Committee: The committee discussed the “what now” of the equity statements and where the statements will be shared, posted as part of the staff and student culture. Discussion of student data, which students are benefiting from the way we are teaching, it shows disparities in achievement. Identify inequities in our system so that all students benefit from the way we educate them.
Finance and Facilities Advisory Committee: The committee walked through the basics of the facilities improvement plan. The last facilities report was the first one in our district. Discussion of what would/should be different in the report going forward was held. Also discussed the tax levy and met the architects.
Policy Development and Legislative Advisory Committee: Six policies include changes to legal references, ten that the committee went through and will be sending to the board, six need clarification prior to bringing to the board. This was the first time the committee met, productive meeting.
5.3 Superintendent Report
- Thoughts of sympathy and concern shared to the friends and family of Mark Chapas, senior at OEHS, who died on Friday. He will be missed. Supports are in place for students and staff at the school to help.
- Principal Appreciation Week Oct 25th- as declared by the Gov., thank you to our principals- examples of great leaders. Everyone is invited to send them an email to tell them how great they’re doing.
- National Bus Driver Appreciation- these important staff members are often the first and last employee that students see- thank them for all they do.
- Food Drive results, broke all past records, congratulations to winning schools- Churchill, Traughber and Oswego East.
- OHS Boys Cross Country won the SPC Conference Championship and are ranked # 3 in the State! This weekend they won the IHSA Regional Championship for the first time since 1991 and advanced to the IHSA Sectional.
- Ella Schrader, OHS Junior, earned a 5/5 on her AP Seminar exam, and she also earned a perfect score! She is one of 33 that had a perfect score out of the 55,000 students that took the exam.
- Oswego Girls Swim and Dive- won the SPC Conference Championship.
- OHS Girls Cross Country runner Audra Soderlind won the SPC Conference Championship race. Girls Cross Country took 6th at the IHSA Regional and have qualified to move on to IHSA Sectional!
- Heather Kincaid, executive director of accountability and high school education, successfully defended her dissertation and is now Dr. Kincaid. Congratulations!
5.4 Student Ambassador Report
On behalf of the OHS and OEHS student body, deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mark Chapas. Student advisory committee administered a survey beginning on 10/20. Currently analyzing the results, and will summarize the findings to share with the board. Feedback included concerns regarding survey format, hope to improve for future. This was the first opportunity to gather student voice to share with the board.
6.1 Consent Agenda
Consent agenda was approved, including minutes from the previous meeting.

7.1 Draft School Calendar 2022-2023 School Year
The district’s calendar committee came together to discuss the 2022-23 calendar, which was discussed and is being shared with the board this evening.
7.2 Proposed New High School Courses for the 2022-23 School Year
Presentation
Changes include: Eliminate Theatre Foundations, add Theater Directing II, add Advanced Dance II, add PLTW Cybersecurity, add Calculus III.
November 16: Student Course Catalog is made available electronically; November 23, Student Course Request window opens to students.
8.1 NoTrespass Hearing
Conduct of visitors on school property
- Before any person may be denied admission to school events or meetings as provided in this policy, the person has a right to a hearing before the Board. The Superintendent may refuse the person admission pending such hearing.
8.2 Approval of No Trespass Order
Motion to approve no trespass order as presented.

9.1 Approval of Destruction of the Audio Recordings of the Closed Session Meetings from November 11, 2019 through April 6, 2020
Motion to approve the destruction of the audio recordings of the Closed Session meetings from November 11, 2019 through April 6, 2020.
Motion passed 7-0.
9.2 Approval of the Release of those Closed Session Minutes which no longer require confidential treatment and will be made available for public inspection, and retain as confidential those Closed Session minutes for which the need for confidentiality still exists.
Motion to approve the release of the following closed session minutes which no longer require confidential treatment and will be made available for public inspection, as discussed in closed session: 11/16/2020.

9.3 Approval of MOU with the OEA
Motion to approve the MOU with the Oswego Education Association (OEA) as discussed and presented.
