• Unit One- Intro to Anatomy and Physiology

    deep to superficial

    Chapter One Objectives
    1. Define anatomy and physiology.
    2. Explain how anatomy and physiology are related.
    3. Describe the anatomical position.
    4. Use proper anatomical terminology to describe body directions, surfaces, and body planes.
    5. Identify body landmarks used in anatomy.
    6. Name the levels of structural organization that make up the human body and explain how they are related.
    7. Name the organ systems of the body and briefly state the major functions and organs of each system.
    8. Identify the organs shown on a diagram or a dissectible torso.
    9. List functions that humans must perform to maintain life.
    10. List the survival needs of the human body.
    11. Differentiate between the homeostatic role of the nervous system and the role of the endocrine system.
    12. Define negative feedback and describe its role in maintaining homeostasis and normal body function.
    13. Give examples of how all organ systems are closely interrelated and impact one another in numerous ways with a clear understanding that organ systems often have an obvious, primary function (s),  and that any given function (e.g., excretion) is actually carried out by several organ systems working together to maintain appropriate balance within the living organisms, including ways not yet identified.
