• Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

District 308 offers flexible spending accounts, or FSAs, which allow you to reimburse yourself for eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses tax free. By participating in these accounts, you do not pay federal, state or social security taxes on the money you contribute.

The healthcare account enables employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. An employee can contribute between $100 and $2,700 per benefit year. The benefit year starts January 1 and ends December 31. For more information, see the Healthcare FSA Info Sheet linked here.

The dependent care account enables employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible dependent care expenses. An employee can contribute between $100 and $5,000 per benefit year ($2,500 if married and filing a separate tax return for the plan year). The benefit year starts January 1 and ends December 31. For more information, see the Dependent Care FSA Info Sheet linked here.

Enrollment into the plan is on an annual basis during the open enrollment (October-November) period. Outside of the open enrollment period, you can only make changes if you experience a qualifying event. Please contact Human Resources/Benefits within 31 days of such an event.
