    Open Enrollment for insurance occurs mid-October through mid-November, with coverage elections effective January 1.
     
    New Hire Enrollment occurs within the first 30 days of employment, and the effective date of coverage is based on your hire date.  Those hired from the 1st - 5th calendar day of the month will have coverage retroactive to the first day of the month.  Those hired after the 5th calendar day of the month will have coverage effective the first day of the following month. 
     
    Coverage elected during the annual Open Enrollment remains in effect throughout the entire plan year, unless the employee experiences a Qualifying Event which would allow them to change their coverage elections. Any request to change an election mid-year must be consistent with the qualifying event the employee​ has experienced. ​ Employees​ experiencing a Qualifying Change in Status have ​31​ days to change certain benefit selections.     Qualifying ​Events include, but are not limited to:
    • ​Marriage, death of spouse, divorce, legal separation or annulment
    • Birth​ of a child​, adoption or placement for adoption
    • ​Termination or commencement of employment, strike or lockout, ​ commencement of or return from an unpaid leave of absence
    • Events that cause an Employee’s Dependent to satisfy or cease to satisfy eligibility requirements for coverage based on age, student status, marital status or any similar circumstance
